Shannon Burke, LPCC

Welcome—I’m Shannon Burke, LPCC. Licensed in New Mexico with over 17 years of professional experience in mental health and substance abuse counseling. Based in Moriarty, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clarity, and practical mindset tools that support lasting change.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

About Shannon

I began my journey as a mental health professional working in community settings, treatment foster care, and public schools, spending nearly a decade as a high school counselor. Those years taught me how resilient adolescents can be, and how deeply people want to be heard and guided through their challenges.

Over time, my practice evolved. I also became an Addiction & Substance Abuse Specialist, supporting families, individuals, and teens through recovery. Now, while I still welcome clients of all ages, I’m shifting focus toward working more with adults, especially those navigating addiction recovery, grief, end-of-life issues, or major life transitions.

What I Believe

  • You are the expert in your own story.

  • Healing happens best in a respectful, safe, and empathetic relationship.

  • With the right tools and mindset, positive change is possible, even when it’s hard.

How I Work

My approach is grounded in three key elements:

Evidence-Based Therapies — I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, combined with compassionate talk therapy tailored to your needs.

Strengths-Based Work — I help you uncover your unique strengths, recognize your resilience, and build on them to navigate stress, life transitions, or recovery.

Collaborative Partnership — Therapy is a two-way process. I work with you to set goals, explore possibilities, and develop strategies that align with your life and values.

Areas of Focus

  • Individual therapy for adults and adolescents
  • Support for anxiety, self-esteem, and life transitions
  • Substance use and addiction recovery
  • Grief, hospice-related support, and end-of-life concerns
  • Culturally-informed care for rural New Mexico and local schools

While my roots are deeply embedded in youth and school-based work, these days I’m especially passionate about working with adults and those in hospice or serious health transitions who want compassionate emotional support.
